Online Checkers is a classic two-player game played on a checkered board. The object of online Checkers is to capture all of your opponent's pieces by jumping your pieces over them or to corner your opponent so that he or she cannot move any pieces.

At the start of a game, each player has 12 pieces.

Red moves first, then black. On your turn, you may either:

1. Move a piece one square diagonally forward onto an unoccupied white square, or
2. Jump diagonally forward over an opponent's piece with a move to the next open square

When you jump a piece, you have captured it and it is automatically removed from the board. All players are forced to jump when possible, use this as part of your strategy to setup your opponent.

The first player to jump and capture all of his or her opponent's pieces wins the game, and a jackpot spin. Both players keep the internet checkers tokens they earned during the game.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you enjoy the classic game of Checkers the free online board game!

When it is your turn, all of the checkers that you can move (or jump) on that turn are highlighted. Click on the piece you wish to move and drag it to its new location. All moves must be diagonally forward on the light squares. Pieces must move to open squares.

You earn tokens for jumping your opponent. Multiple jumps in a turn scores bonus tokens. Also, capturing an opponent's King is worth more tokens.

To make double jumps and other multiple jumps, you must take each jump in succession. That is, you must move your piece to make the first jump, then move it again for the second jump, and so forth. You can't simply move your piece to the square on which the multiple jumping would end.

Although pieces may only move diagonally forward, if you manage to move one of your online checkers all the way.

Checkers • Negative Posts and Complaints about Pogo on the Forums

By pogo_Maul » May 11th, 2012, 6:02 pm

Due to the many current issues affecting members game play the Pogo Forums are receiving a lot of negative and unconstructive feedback. We are aware of the issues largely related to those unhappy with Embedded Game Pages (EGP), whether it be the design/lack of Pop-ups, or Games loading slowly, not able to continue after one game, or simply not loading at all. We are researching those issues and hope to have solutions in the coming weeks.

Because of the many current, common, and overly repeated complaints, and threats of unsubscribing we are simply going to remove or consolidate such posts as they simply are over burdening our Forum’s community in general. I would like to be clear, we are not ignoring these complaints and the issues that are triggering them. We are simply trying to maintain the forums as a relatively peaceful place where members can communicate in a positive and constructive manner.

Our Mods are here trying to help. If they remove a post it is because they are following Pogo’s and EA’s guidelines. If they feel for any reason that a post is negative or may incite negative responses they are well within their given powers to remove such a post.

Checkers • Pogo is listening! :)

By pogo_Maul » May 10th, 2012, 6:30 pm

We know a lot of our members, Free and Club, have been having various ongoing and continuous issues with using our site for the last several weeks and month. We are working hard to try and narrow down the causes of these wide ranging problems.

The Game Loading and not being able to continue after playing a game are two of the largest issues that we are researching right now. We have been working directly with a few members to try and narrow down the symptoms and possible resolutions.

We have found a few things so far that are preventing players from normal game play, including certain browser add-ons and security settings. In many cases simply resetting the browser to its default settings and disabling add-ons that are not necessary for playing our games will resolve the problem.

We are still gathering information and as we do so, we will try to figure out if there are any adjustments we can make on our end so that these settings and add-ons do not interfere with people’s ability to play on Pogo. In some cases we may need to provide our users with more details on how they can make adjustments on their end so that they can continue playing. More details and information will be provided as they become more solid.

In addition to that, we also continue to look into the issues with Pop-up Game Windows, not being able to purchase Gems, various abuse issues, as well as new and old bugs.

We understand that these last few months with changes to our site, games, and EA Support have been very trying and we are indeed working to improve the experience for our fans. We greatly appreciate your patience.

note: I have locked this post because the issues mentioned are already being discussed by you and our other members in existing topics.

Checkers • CHECKERS

By FrstKd » March 22nd, 2012, 2:40 pm

I have been trying to play this game all morning. I get 3 or 4 kings & then the game disappears and I don't receive credit for the men I've kinged. How can I get the game to stay so I can play? Or at least how do I get credits for the men who have been kinged? The rules never said I had to win the game, just finish it I suppose. Frustrating!!!

If you can jump an opponent's checker during a move, you must do so. The Pogo program forces you to follow the rules.

Check out rule 9 in this link: How To Play Checkers (Using Standard U.S. Rules)
