Here are some additional pointers designed to help with MONOPOLY online board game play:

ROLLING DOUBLES! If both dice show the same number, you've rolled doubles. Your token will move to the sum of the two dice. If it's your first time rolling doubles on one turn, you get to roll again! But watch out: If you roll doubles for the third time in a row, you'll get thrown “In Jail” and your token will automatically move to the jail space on the board.

GET RICH TIP! Try to own all the Title Deeds in a color-group on the board. For example, Boardwalk and Park Place are both part of the dark blue color-group. When you own all properties in a color group, you can charge double rent!

CHANCE & COMMUNITY CHEST CARDS. When you land on either of these spaces, you'll get the top card from the deck. Sometimes you'll owe money and sometimes you'll win some. Either way, the bank will automatically give or take money based on the card you got.

GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARDS. It's your lucky day! Pick up a Get Out of Jail Free card and hold it until you need to use it. Or sell your card to another player whenever you like a price that you both agree to.

BANKRUPTCY. If you run out of cash and can't sell enough to pay back your debts, you're bankrupt! And that means you lose. If your debt is to another player, you must give them all that you have left including properties, money and Get Out of Jail Free cards. If you're bankrupt but still have houses or hotels left, the Bank will automatically buy these back from you and give that cash to the player whom you still owe.

LOW ON CASH? Raise money by selling your houses and hotels, mortgage your properties to the Bank, or sell or trade your properties to other players for any amount that you can both agree on.

Maybe just naive but why cheat and how?

That can't be true, because the last 3 games I played I got "0" tokens ( should have been 3977, 4130 and 2523 ) So I'm assuming it's the total # of tokens in a day that is limited.

Not in a single day but in a single game. Pogo has a token cap set to supposedly discourage "cheating".

The reason I initially asked is that I read someone's post (I can't remember who) that said you don't get scored for how many hotels or houses you have, but how much money you have at the end of the game. If that is true... than to get the highest score you should sell all your houses and hotels just before the other player(s) go bankrupt to get the highest possible score. Of course that could be risky, and you only get half the price of what you pay for the houses when you sell them, so you would lose money doing that especially if you end up having to rebuild again.

Someone said that there is a limit to the number of tokens you can earn playing Monopoly in a single day, is this true ?

Whoops, I just saw Monopoly and hadn't realized you were asking about Monopoly Classic. As with the rest of the embedded games, the How to Play is sorely lacking and doesn't give the specifics about how tokens are earned.

As for what you can do with tokens, you can buy things to decorate your Mini in the Mini Mall and use the tokens to play the games in the Casino section.

Okay, I just reread what you're saying and I think I misunderstood the first time around. The tokens are the result of your score so it DOES answer my question. :) What are tokens even used for? Are they of any use if you only play Monopoly?

Thanks for responding, Seska, but I was actually wondering about the scoring, not the tokens. Specifically, the scoring on the Monopoly Classic.

From the How to Play:

Tokens

You earn tokens in MONOPOLY The World Edition through a variety of ways...

Passing GO
Collecting rent from other players
Landing on Free Parking
Rolling Doubles
Getting "good" Community Chest and Chance Cards
Completing a Color Group (one award per color group per game)

But most importantly, you earn tokens just for playing the game. At the end of the game, you will be rewarded tokens for every turn you took. The amount of tokens depends on how you finished -- a first place person will earn 30 tokens per turn, but even a player that comes in fourth will earn 15 tokens per turn. So don't worry too much about playing a particular way to earn tokens -- just play the game like you normally would and you'll rack 'em up!

That last part is why you don't get as many tokens for a fast win as you do for longer games.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. It seems oddly like your score is lower the faster you win... :?

Monopoly Classic • Re: Community Chest

By blingadore » May 12th, 2012, 10:55 pm

another glitchy aspect of both community chest AND chance cards is that they come up in a more-or-less random order, even if that card has already turned up! e.g.: there can be MORE THAN TWO 'get out of jail free' cards in play at any given time, even though each deck only has ONE of those cards!

accroding to monopoly rules, EVERY CARD should be seen IN THE SAME ORDER THROUGHOUT THE GAME, once the cards have been initially shuffled and place on their respective draw pile positions.

Monopoly Classic • Negative Posts and Complaints about Pogo on the Forums

By pogo_Maul » May 11th, 2012, 6:02 pm

Due to the many current issues affecting members game play the Pogo Forums are receiving a lot of negative and unconstructive feedback. We are aware of the issues largely related to those unhappy with Embedded Game Pages (EGP), whether it be the design/lack of Pop-ups, or Games loading slowly, not able to continue after one game, or simply not loading at all. We are researching those issues and hope to have solutions in the coming weeks.

Because of the many current, common, and overly repeated complaints, and threats of unsubscribing we are simply going to remove or consolidate such posts as they simply are over burdening our Forum’s community in general. I would like to be clear, we are not ignoring these complaints and the issues that are triggering them. We are simply trying to maintain the forums as a relatively peaceful place where members can communicate in a positive and constructive manner.

Our Mods are here trying to help. If they remove a post it is because they are following Pogo’s and EA’s guidelines. If they feel for any reason that a post is negative or may incite negative responses they are well within their given powers to remove such a post.

Monopoly Classic • Community Chest

By lancethorn » May 11th, 2012, 2:30 pm

It ticks me off that when you land on Community Chest and get the card that says you have to pay SCHOOL TAXES of $50.00, the game takes $100.00 instead! Pogo you need to fix this! :(
